The annual girls’ education campaign and 100 per cent enrolment drive are to ensure no child remains uneducated: Chief Minister

Ahmedabad, Thursday: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today launched the 16th edition of Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav and Shala Praveshotsav from remote Lambadiya, Demti and Navadhara in Poshina taluka in predominantly Sabarkantha district.

He got children admitted in Anganwadis, Class I, IX and XI, distributed Vidya Lakshmi Bonds and distributed bicycles to girl students under Saraswati Sadhana Yojna. He planted saplings in school premises, met with the school management committee of Paras Vidyalaya and discussed ways to improve further the educational infrastructure and greater parents-teachers interaction.

Mr. Rupani also inaugurated a seasonal hostel at Sadhufalo in Poshina taluka built at a cost of Rs.1.45-crore and 50 classrooms in the primary school built at a cost of Rs.5.08-crore.

He felicitated bright students of Class III and X, best teacher Ishwarbhai and Paras School Trustee Sankitbhai Doshi for donating Rs.51,000. The Poshina taluka Sarpanch Association donated Rs.25,000 and Vyapari Mahamandal Rs.51,000.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rupani said the Kanya Kalavani Mahotsav and Shala Praveshotsav, annual feature, were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat with a view to encouraging girls’ education and to ensure 100 per cent enrolment.

He said this is an age of knowledge and no country could progress without education. The Gujarat Government annually spent Rs.27,000 crore on education, distributes books and uniform free to students. The focus is on tribal areas, like running 45 Eklavya Schools, 550 Ashram Shalas in the tribal belt, and opening one medical college in every tribal district. There is now need for parents encouraging their wards to get educated necessary to instil self-confidence in them.

Those present on the occasion included BJP District General Secretary Takhatsinh Hadiyol and other party leaders, district collector, superintendent of police and other officials.
